Waikiki Parc announces new partnership with University of Hawaii at Manoa
WAIKIKI, HI, June 18, 2013 – Waikiki Parc Hotel, Hawaii’s chicest address, is proud to announce a new arts partnership with the University of Hawaii Arts Foundation. Waikiki Parc Hotel is the official hospitality sponsor of the University of Hawaii College of Arts & Humanities. The goal of the partnership is to promote up-and-coming young artists who are students – or recent graduates of- the university while supporting a valuable institution in the community.
“We will feature a rotating art exhibition in the Parc Promenade at Waikiki Parc Hotel four times per year. We’re very excited about the energy and sophisticated vibe this brings to the hotel, and to be able to share with our hotel guests beautiful and thoughtful art, locally created,” said general manager Julie Arigo.
Nicole Naone, a recent graduate of the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, is the featured artist this quarter. WAIKIKI PARC FEATURES NICOLE NAONE features a series art that recalls the eccentricity of childhood and expressions of adulthood’s ample mishaps. She was raised on Oahu and has traveled the world, from Beijing to Morocco.
"I'm humbled and honored to be working with Waikiki Parc and hope this exhibition is one they will be as proud of as I am,” said Naone. As a model and student, her time is dedicated to researching advancing styles in art and connecting with other artists. Her influences include Frank Gehry, Elsa Peretti, and Barbara Hepworth. She is inspired by beauty and its self-destruction, inevitable and awkward miracles, fevered outbursts, and chaos; her art is a synthesis of notes on creation and destruction. Naone received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Sculpture from the University of Hawai’i.
This free public exhibition runs from July 22 – October 31, 2013 in the lobby of Waikiki Parc Hotel, 2233 Helumoa Road in Waikiki. Please inquire at the hotel’s Front Desk for more information regarding acquistion.
